Plug Valve

It is said the valves which firstly used by people are Plug valves. They have simple designs, swift on-off system and less fluid resistance. FLOWORK® mainly produces Plug valves according to the standard of API. We call them API Plug valves. According to different design standards, FLOWORK® provides you DIN Plug valves as well.

Plug valves are generally made of metals. Such as Forged Steel Plug valves, Stainless Steel Plug valves, Alloy Plug valves, Bronze Plug valves cast Steel Plug valves and Carbon Steel Plug valves, ect,. Ceramic Plug valves are a kind of non-metal Plug valves. These valves have stable construction which is difficult to wear. Besides that, some plug valves materials are special, like Special Alloy Plug valves, Special Steel Plug valves and Hastelloy Plug valves ect. Transmitting and processing of media that are heavily corrosive, Duplex Stainless Steel Plug valves or Super Stainless Steel Plug valves are usually selected to mitigate the problems for they can work well in the area with corrosive surroundings.

The simplest and most common general type of Plug valve is a 2-port valve with two positions: open to allow flow, and shut (closed) to stop flow. It is also possible for a Plug valve to have more than two ports. In a 3-Way Plug valve, there are 3 ports.

According to different types of connection, there are Screwed Plug valves, Flanged Plug valves, and Welded Plug valves. According to the type of welding, we have Butt Weld Plug Valves and Socket Weld Plug Valves. Based on different drive mode, we have Gear Operated Plug valves and Hand Wheel Plug valves. If equipped with actuators, these Plug valves can change into Electric Motor Plug valves Pneumatic Actuator Plug valves and Hydraulic Actuator Plug valves. Generally speaking, Big Size Plug valves are gear operated.

People can adopt suitable Plug valves in different situations. For the high temperature operation, High Temperature Plug valves can be adopted. In addition, Jacket Plug Valves help to prevent the line fluid’s temperature loss. The high temperature PTFE sleeve can withstand high-temperature of up to 270 ℃. For high temperature conditions, we can also select High Nickel Alloy Plug valves. Jacket Plug valves has two types: Partial Jacket Type and Fully Jacket Type which has better insulation performance. Lubricated Taper Plug valves are good choice for almost any mediums. Even under the most severe operating conditions, they can provide ideal shut-off service. Slightly conically tapered metal, Brass Plug valves are often used as simple shut-off valves in household natural gas lines.
