A Ball valve is an excellent choice for opening and shut-off. Ball valves are durable; they can still work perfectly after years of disuse. FLOWORK® mainly produces Ball valves according to the standard of API. We call them API Ball valves. According to different design standards, FLOWORK® provides you DIN Ball valves as well.
They do not offer the fine control, but are sometimes used for throttling, which allows for quick shut-off. A V-port Ball valve which can be referred to as a type of control valve has the best regulation performance. These valves are suitably used for fluid like fiber, tiny solid particles and slurry medium.
The body of Ball valves may be made of metals. Such as: Forged Steel Ball valves,Stainless Steel Ball valves, Alloy Ball valves, Bronze Ball valves, Cast Steel Ball valves and Carbon Steel Ball valves ect. FLOWORK® mainly produces Forged Steel Ball valves according to the standard of API 602 and Stainless Steel Ball valves according to the standard of API 603. We call them API 602 Forged Steel Ball valves and API 603 Stainless Steel Ball valves. The body can also be made of Non-metal Materials. For example, Ceramic Ball valves are erosion-resisting, wear-resisting, cavitation-resisting and antioxidant. Besides that, some Ball valves materials are special, like, Special Alloy Ball valves,Special Steel Ball Valves and Hastelloy Ball valves ect. Transmitting and processing of media that are heavily corrosive, Duplex Stainless Steel Ball valves or Super Stainless Steel Ball valves are usually selected to mitigate the problems for they can work well in the area with corrosive surroundings.
The Ball can be installed in the valve in two different ways, resulting in Top Entry Ball valves and Side Entry Ball valves. For Top Entry Ball valves, the Balls can be taken out, repaired and changed easily.
The body of Ball Valves can be a whole and also be modular. They are called Integral Ball valves and Split-body Ball valves. They are designed and manufactured to meet ANSI and API standard.
Ball valves are versatile which can stand pressures up to 1000 bar and temperatures up to 752°F (500°C) depending on different designs and materials. FLOWORK provide different valves under different operating conditions, especially different temperatures. High temperature Ball valves, Low Temperature Ball valves / Cryogenic Ball valves and Jacket Ball valves are adopted to work under different operating temperatures. Jacket Ball valves help to prevent the line fluid’s temperature loss. For high temperature conditions, we can also select High Nickel Alloy Ball valves. Under high pressure, FLOWORK High Pressure Ball valves are good choices.
According to different types of connection, there are Screwed Ball valves, Flanged Ball valves, and Welded Ball valves. For welded Ball valves, they can be divided into Butt Weld Ball valves, Socket Weld Ball valves and Fully Weld Ball valves.
Full Bore Ball valve has an over-sized Ball whose hole in the ball has the same size with the pipeline, which resulting in only a small fluid resistance. The pipes can be cleaned easily at the same time. In Reduced Bore Ball valves, fluid flows through the valve whose size is smaller than the valve's pipe size, resulting in reducing the flow.
A Trunnion Mounted Ball valve/ Fixed Ball valve is suitable for larger and higher pressure. A Floating Ball valve is different from a Trunnion Mounted Ball valve. In normal operation, with the flow of fluid, the Ball will float downstream slightly.
The operation of Ball valves is simple, generally are hand lever operated. We call them Mannually Operated Ball Valves or Hand Lever Ball Valves. When the valves need large amount of starting force, we can choose Gear Operated Ball valves which can save effort. Generally speaking, Big Size Ball valves are gear operated. Some FLOWORK Ball valves are equipped with a pneumatic actuator (Pneumatic Actuator Ball valves) or motor operated (Electric Motor Ball valve).
Ball valves can have more than two ports. Three-way Ball valves have two types L-shaped port and T-shaped port. Different shapes result in different flow directions. The ports of the 4-way Ball valves sometimes shaped as an “X”.
Ball valves in sizes up to 2 inch are generally designed into two or three piece.(Two-piece Ball valves or Three-piece Ball valves)
Nowadays, people pay much attention to environmental protection. We FLOWORK also take it into consideration. Low Emission Ball valves and Low Leakage Ball valves can effectively prevent the medium leakage and emission, thus being good for the environment. Equipped with Fugitive Emission Test Certificate ISO 15848-1:2006, FLOWORK manufactures Fugitive Emission Ball valves in order to make a contribution to protecting the environment.
